The Red Currant is a deciduous small multi-stemmed shrub that bears delicious edible red berries with a tart flavour. This summer fruiting plant fruits on 2-3 year old wood and has pretty green foliage. It needs a sheltered spot to avoid sun/windburn and prefers cold winters. Enjoy the sweet and tangy taste of these juicy berries fresh or use them in jams and jellies.
